Land Acknowledgment

We, the administration, and faculty of Whole Earth Montessori, acknowledge the original inhabitants of this area, the Snohomish people, and their successors, the Tulalip Tribes.

Since time immemorial, they have hunted, fished, gathered, and taken care of these lands. We respect their sovereignty, and right to self-determination, and honor their sacred spiritual connection with the land and water.

As educators, we will endeavor to honor the Snohomish and Tulalip people’s legacy by being honest about our past mistakes and educating future generations in a way that truthfully and accurately represents their people, stories, and voices, so that we may form a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.

We ask that the members of our learning community respect the Snohomish and Tulalip Tribes and take time to learn the true history of the lands on which we reside.
