Elementary programs at WEM inherently inspire the elementary child to acquire knowledge, help them develop intellectually, emotionally, as well as socially. Intrigued by the world and eager to learn their place in it, Elementary classrooms are designed to support both individual and group learning and are equipped with a vast array of specific Montessori materials designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and passion.
There is no part of any community or society that does not require working as part of a group to accomplish great things. Having developed a strong sense of self from their experiences in the Montessori Early Childhood classrooms, elementary aged students are ready and prepared to collaborate and contribute to the greater community beyond their own interests.
Elementary students learn that everything in the world stems from the focus and hard work of themselves and others. Students are encouraged to understand and realize the power they have to make a difference in their own lives, their classroom, the community and in the world. Individually, they are challenged to determine how they can contribute as agents of change in ways that can benefit others, not just themselves. Montessori students at WEM will develop a moral compass and ignite a passion about life that they will carry into adulthood that will help make a difference.
