Dear Prospective Members of the WEM Community,

The WEM Application Questionnaire is intended to help WEM best understand the goals your family have set forth for your child’s educational future. We use this information as a means to align your child with the classroom environment that best meets your family’s unique and individual needs.

Every one of our highly qualified and classically Montessori trained teachers at WEM bring their own unique personalities, teaching styles and expertise to each of our classrooms. We believe strongly that having a diverse body of teachers works well to meet the needs of every child, and we are committed to aligning your child with the most appropriate classroom at WEM.

WEM is one of only a few Montessori schools in the State of Washington accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS). Because students at WEM complete programs in 3-year cycles, admission to WEM is highly competitive, and WEM has limited availability each new school year. While we would love to accept all applicants, priority enrollment is given to current and returning WEM students completing the 3-year cycle, alumni and their siblings, and then to students with previous Montessori experience. Admission decisions for new families are largely based on the parents’ long term commitment to the completion of WEM’s 3-year programs. Completion of this survey plays a vital role in the decision the enrollment team makes when admitting students to WEM. Incomplete surveys will not be considered for admission.

Upon receipt, our admissions team will review your application and determine your acceptance status at WEM. You will be notified of your child’s acceptance determination by April 1, 2018. If accepted, you will receive all remaining paperwork to complete enrollment at WEM. Completion of this paperwork will confirm enrollment for your child at WEM for the 2018-2019 school year.

*Completion of the admission questionnaire and paperwork does not guarantee enrollment with WEM. WEM welcomes all children and does not discriminate with respect to race, religious affiliation, creed, national origin, gender, age, or physical ability.

We spend the first year of a child's life teaching it to walk and talk and the rest of its life to shut up and sit down. There's something wrong there.

There really is no such thing as race. We are one species — each of us much, much more alike than different. We all come from Africa. We all are of the same stardust. We are all going to live and die on the same planet, a Pale Blue Dot in the vastness of space. We have to work together.

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently ... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.
